Legislative Advocacy
Legislative advocacy or lobbying specifically involves influencing public policy through the legislative process. In an effort to formulate sound health care legislation we must involve individual physicians, their spouses and interested Alliance members. Communicating with our legislators is vital to the success of our grassroots lobbying efforts. Better than any professional lobbyist in Sacramento or Washington, Alliance members can give legislators the most accurate picture of how the issues really affect the practice of medicine.
CALPAC
CALPAC is the largest state medical association PAC in the nation. It is the only entity representing physicians in all specialties and modes of practice in California’s political arena. It is operated by physicians for physicians on a bipartisan basis and supports scores of candidates for state and federal office who share our philosophy and vision of the future of medicine and health care in our diverse state.
Legislation Day
Tuesday, April 15, 2008
On this day each year in Sacramento, individuals and groups go to meet and discuss current legislation issues with their local representatives. It gives the opportunity for direct face to face communication with State legislation. Physicians and Alliance members attend and help convey the message of medicine and how policy will affect positive or negative change.
Physician or physician spouse may become a Key Contact for the CMA:
