Breast Cancer Awareness Project
In an effort to promote breast cancer awareness, this program provides information to Alliance members concerning the early detection of breast cancer.
Foster Children’s Give-a-Gift Program
Established in 1953, this long-standing Alliance program has provided hundreds of children in our county’s foster care system with holiday gifts including bicycles, helmets and locks. Working with the Sonoma County Department of Health Services, our program volunteers match children’s gift requests with many Alliance and community members who help make their holiday wishes come true. Most recently, we have extended the program to allow for purchasing computers for college bound foster care youth who have aged out of the system. For more information about donating to this program, please click here.
Safe Schools Program
Since 2001, this program has offered mini-grant funds up to $1000 to Sonoma County schools to purchase materials, train staff, counselors, and students, and maintain existing programs that promote anti-violence and anti-bullying. Programs include the Second Step program for students from kindergarden through 8th grade, Safe School Ambassadors for middle school and high school students, and more. The Safe Schools Program coordinates with the American Medical Association Alliance S.A.V.E. (Stop America’s Violence Everywhere) program, an anti-violence program started in 1995 in response to violence in our schools.
Funding for this program is received from the annual Garden Tour as well as private donations directed to this cause. In cooperation with the Sonoma County Office of Education, we have been able to positively affect thousands of school aged children throughout the county.

Services to the Elderly
In collaboration with the Council on Aging Services for Seniors, Alliance volunteers supply beautifully decorated handmade Valentines to senior citizens along with their Meals on Wheels dinner. The Valentines are made by area school children. The experience supports their learning and compassion towards the elderly.
Doctor’s Day
National event recognized on March 30th. The SCMAA will be celebrating Doctors' Day on April 11th by partnering with all Sonoma County hospitals to offer various free health assessments for doctors in support of doctors' health.
Not Even For a Minute
This program seeks to remind parents and caregivers not to leave children alone in hot cars – "not even for a minute." The message comes in the form of a Public Service Announcement played at a local theater during the summer months. This program was made possible with a grant from the California Medical Association Alliance Foundation.
Screen Out
This national program sponsored by the AMA Alliance seeks to influence the removal of tobacco usage from youth-rated Hollywood films. Join the Screen Out campaign and help raise awareness about the harm on-screen tobacco use can cause our youth.
Teddy Bears Project
In an effort to decrease the anxiety of undergoing a surgical procedure and assist in the child’s recovery, stuffed teddy bears are distributed to children. This program was made possible with a grant from the California Medical Association Alliance Foundation.
