Are you new to the area?
Perhaps you're looking for friends who understand the challenges of a medical family?
Or maybe you're searching for a way to give back to your community through volunteering?
THE ALLIANCE IS HERE FOR YOU!
Annually, we have about 200 members who are quite diverse, spanning generations and ethnicities. During monthly coffees and cocktail parties, lasting friendships are formed as we continue to have fun together.
We now have a new category of membership, "Friends of the Alliance", who enjoy membership benefits and find pleasure in serving on stimulating and worthwhile committees which make our fundraising events so successful.
As we celebrate our organization's 70th year, we are proud to know that we are one of the most active Medical Association Alliances in California. Through member volunteerism, we fundraise and distribute nearly $125,000 annually to local charities that improve the health and well-being of Sonoma County.
Complete a Membership Form or "Give the Gift of Membership"

You may print your own Membership Application form and submit your dues payment by check.
You may complete your Membership Application online and submit your dues payment by credit card through Paypal.
Additionally, this year we are pleased to offer a Give the Gift of Membership option if you would like to treat a friend who you think would enjoy a year's membership.
Membership Profile: Meta Lightfoot

I was born and raised in Windsor when Windsor was still a “small town”. I come from a family of 10 - five boys and five girls. My sister, Veronica, and I are one of two sets of twins in the family. Many Alliance members are surprised when they see us together - we enjoy watching their reactions when they do!
I graduated from Healdsburg High School and attended Santa Rosa Junior College. I wanted to be a nurse. During a rotation in the medical office of Kenneth Mesches MD, I soon learned that I did not have the stomach for the sight of blood!! After graduating, I interviewed for my first job with a new ophthalmologist in town who was joining his father's practice. I didn't want to go for this interview as I wanted to travel around the US before having to start work. I interviewed for the job and got it. After three years of working for Lightfoot and Lightfoot MD's INC, the boss married me and the rest is history!
Dan and I have three great daughters. Megan, 20, a junior at UCLA, loves to tease her dad. She is going to be our lawyer. She's already practicing negotiation on the UCLA women's rowing team. Jean, 18, and a sophomore at UCSB, is just like her dad: doesn't like to spend money. She is going to be our financial advisor and she is giving the UCSB women's track team the scoop on how to make money. Katie, 16, a junior at Maria Carrillo High School, knows how to win her dad’s heart. She just smiles that big smile of hers. She is Dan's last hope to attend Stanford, his alma mater, and Grandpa Lightfoot's hope of becoming the next Lightfoot ophthalmologist!
I worked at Lightfoot and Lightfoot for 22 years. When I joined the SCMAA, it was known as the Auxiliary. At that time, I was not involved with the organization much since I was working full time and raising three very active girls - at least that was my excuse! After retiring from Dan’s office, I received a call from Karen Erickson asking me to become more involved with the Alliance. With four years under my belt now, I'm happy I finally took the plunge!
As an active Alliance member, I have worn the hat of Board Secretary, Holiday
Greeting Card Chair, Directory Chair and now Membership chair. When I first joined the Alliance, there were many members listed in the directory. However, over the years, membership has decreased dramatically. My goal now is to have 220 members. Last year, we almost reached 200 members, so please get the word out to your friends and colleagues that SCMAA is a very fun, successful and exciting group of people to join! I love the energy, creativity and camaraderie that this group has. It inspires me. I look forward to meeting all our members someday and our potential new ones.
