Featured Artist and Art Raffle
Our featured artist this year is Alliance member Karen L. Field. As a delightful addition to the tour, Karen will be painting on both days in the garden on Red Winery Road, and her watercolor will be on display there as well.
We are thrilled that she has donated a beautiful pastel, "Matanzas Creek", for the Art Raffle.
Should you wish to purchase the raffle tickets before the tour, you may do so by downloading the Ticket Order Form. 1 ticket for $10 or 3 tickets for $25. Raffle tickets may also be purchased on tour days at the reception tables of all gardens.
To see more of Karen's artwork, please click here to visit Karen's website (www.karenlfield.com). When asked about her life as an artist, Karen replied:
The world of art has always been a part of my life. I began drawing and painting when I was a small child, and have continued to do so throughout my adult life. I paint on location whenever I can. When I stand at my easel and begin to paint, I am overwhelmed by the beauty and serenity that is before me whether in Sonoma County or in places I visit in my travels. I am drawn to the ever-changing patterns found in nature. My goal is to capture on canvas or paper the light and color of that moment in time. My subjects range from landscapes both natural and those enhanced by man to people and places and whatever catches my eye.

Master Gardeners
For several years we have been fortunate to have members of the Sonoma County Master Gardeners available to answer your gardening questions. These volunteers come well prepared with intensive prior training, experience, and plenty of reference books and handouts. Look for the Master Gardeners umbrella and table where they will be on hand at our tour garden on Red Winery Road.
Now for the first time, we have added a Workshop Program on both Friday, May 16th and Saturday, May 17th. We are fortunate to have six additional Master Gardeners participating in this new program. It is a continuing pleasure to work so closely with members of this outstanding volunteer organization.
Also note, the Master Gardeners biennial garden tour, Bloomin Backyards, will take place on Sunday, June 22, 2008. In addition to showcasing six of their own private gardens, they will have special demonstrations and horticultural information available at each site. Unique Master Gardener-made garden crafts and more than 2500 plants will be featured for sale. For more information, you may visit the Master Gardeners website or call the office (707) 565-2608.
Musicians
As you stroll through the West Dry Creek Road garden, please take a moment to enjoy the delightful music presented by some of our local and very talented youngsters. Each day we will feature different musicians, including instrumentalists and vocalists.
Friday we present three very gifted and experienced soloists: Elisa Colbert, age 16, on harp, Jaime Feldman, age 16, on cello, and Sean Colbert, age 17, on viola.
Saturday we will hear the beautiful strings of the Bellamor String Quartet, as well as the truly charming voices of The Healdsburg/Windsor Children’s Community Choir, under the direction of Heather Cullen and accompanied by Janette Gilbertson. And, finally, we present an outstanding young jazz ensemble from Healdsburg.
We proudly support all of these young musicians and their music programs.
T Barny Gallery and Sculpture Gardens
While visiting the gardens off Alexander Road take the opportunity to visit T Barny Gallery and Sculpture Gardens, 4370 Pine Flat Road, Healdsburg, which has been opened especially for our guests. You will enjoy his work both in the gallery and in the garden. His work has been exhibited world wide for more than 25 years and the elegant creations from stone, steel, bronze, wood, water and ice are in public, corporate and private collections internationally.
Table Staging
To enhance your visit, several gardens will feature decorated al fresco dining tables.
These inspirations are the work of Healdsburg’s finest designers.
