
Garden Tour 2008
Workshops
The Workshop Program is a new feature this year to our Garden Tour and is organized in partnership with Santa Rosa Garden Club. These Workshops will be presented in a wonderful barn at the garden on West Dry Creek Road. Each presentation will be 40 minutes with a 10 minute Question and Answer period.
Your Garden Tour ticket is your entrance to the workshops and valid both days for reentry to this garden. There are no reservations and space is limited so plan ahead.

Ellen Zagory, Director of Horticulture at the UC Davis Arboretum, will introduce us to many new and unusual plants native to California, Mexico and the Mediterranean regions of the world. Many of these plants help to create a diverse landscape which attract hummingbirds and beneficial insects. These are included in the new Arboretum All-Star program, an on-line educational outreach program.

Kate Frey, one time Chelsea Gold Medal Winner, will speak on her formula for sustainable gardening-a tasty and flower-filled haven that delights people and wildlife, feed the body and soul as well as inviting rich diversity of life. Kate was gardener at Fetzer Valley Oaks Garden in Hopland for twenty years.

Jani Weaver, retail manager of the Nursery at Emerisa Gardens, designer of one of last year's tour gardens, and Sonoma County Master Gardener and self-confessed "plantaholic." Jani will bring plants from the nursery to illustrate her talk on "Easy Roses and HOT New Perennials". Jani has a garden design and consultation business, GardenWeaver Design.

Sandy Metzger, "Trash to Treasures Garden Art" is a show-and-tell about using "found" or other unusual items to create functional or ornamental "art" for the garden. Sandy, a Master Gardener, will inspire your creative talent, explain how to incorporate these "treasures" into your own garden design and where to find them.

Linda King, will present Creating Water-Wise Gardens in Sonoma County. Learn about grouping plants by water needs, as well as choosing which plants are best for our summer dry Mediterranean climate. Linda will share many tips for keeping your water bill under control!
